X-15A-2
Mission: The X-15A-2, the second of three X-15s built, incorporated a fuselage extension and other improvements to expand the stock X-15s performance envelope after the first X-15 crash-landed in Nevada on 9 November 1962. The modification was modestly successful. Like the other X-15s, it was powered by a single Reaction Motors XLR99 rocket engine.
