Mission: The X-33 is a half-scale prototype of a proposed unmanned reusable launch vehicle under development by Lockheed Martin and known as the VentureStar. Construction and flight test schedules have been impacted by technical difficulties. Power is provided by a specially-developed Boeing Rocketdyne J2S aerospike engine.
