X-4
Mission: The X-4 was designed to explore the transonic flight characteristics of tailless aircraft. Diminutive in all respects, it proved one of the more successful flight test vehicles of its day. Maximum speed effectively was limited to Mach 0.88. Power was provided by two Westinghouse J30-WE-7 turbojet engines.
