X-40

Mission: The X-40A is a ninety percent scale model of a proposed Space Maneuver Vehicle (SMV) study conducted by Boeing during the mid-1990s. It is now considered to be a subsonic aerodynamic testbed for the X-37A, which in turn has become the true testbed for the original SMV. The X-40A is unpowered, though a powered version referred to as the X-40B is rumored to be under development.
