3 November: Expanding Envelope

The US Air Force evaluates the JSF X-35A for the first time, with USAF pilot Lt. Col. Paul Smith at the controls. Smith describes the aircraft’s performance as “world-class.” Smith lights the afterburner and performs a series of maneuvers intended to explore the handling characteristics of the stealthy aircraft.
