CLOCKWISE FROM TOP — Retractable landing lights are used on final approach. The top of the fuselage is fifteen feet from the ground, so the upper escape hatch includes a rope for emergency egress. The head-up displays in the C-130J are primary flight instruments, appearing as cat's eyes in the right light. Many C-130Js have the Enhanced Cargo Handling System, which includes flip-over rollers and integral Container Delivery System vertical restraint rails. Missile launch detectors help protect the crew; windshield wipers clean the flight deck window.
