Artist's Gallery
Gerald Asher

Gerald Asher has been producing aviation art for over fifteen years. He is a self-taught artist and a third-generation aviator. Under the auspices of the Air Force Art Program, he has flown training and combat profiles in a variety of aircraft ranging from the T-33 to the F-16D. Aim for the Orange, Babe! shows an F-16 making a hard left break over McConnell AFB after a late morning sortie on 9 July 1994. The date marks the last tactical flight for F-16s of the 184th Fighter Group of the Kansas Air National Guard, which transitioned to the B-1 bomber. Lt. Col. Ed McIlhenny is the pilot in the F-16. His wife, in an orange dress, is shown in the background videotaping the pass. Jayhawk Initial also shows an F-16C flown by the 184th. The painting was commissioned by the unit as a change of command gift for Col. Frank Scoggins.
