Mel Brown, a fifth generation Texan, is a self-taught artist. He has been a professional aviation artist since 1976. Browns work is on display in the Pentagon, the USAF Academy, and in private collections in North America and abroad. "My fascination with aviation comes, no doubt, from growing up in a town with four Air Force bases," says Brown, a native of San Antonio who now lives in Austin. Big Sky Birds depicts an F-16 from the 120th Fighter Group of the Montana Air National Guard based at Great Falls International Airport.
