Bob Cunningham

Bob Cunningham began his thirty-six-year career with General Dynamics in the company’s preliminary design group in 1955. His paintings are admired for their accuracy and authenticity. He created artwork for US Postal System stamps in 1976 and 1980 and for the first cover of Code One magazine in 1985. His work is on display at the USAF Museum and in museums in the Netherlands and Venezuela. Many of Cunningham’s paintings appear in two books published by General Dynamics – The Aviation Art of Bob Cunningham and Aces High. The latter book chronicles renowned fighter aces and their aircraft from World War I to the present. Though Cunningham passed away in 1991, his work still speaks of aviation milestones. YF-16 Prototype, one of the very first paintings of an F-16, depicts the first prototype in a red-white-blue paint scheme that Cunningham himself designed.
