Tracy L. Ingham is a native Iowan. He has been a professional artist since late in 1991. He is a self-taught artist in all the mediums he uses. He is one of those artists with the natural ability to paint anything he sees.
He develops his images and composition through sketching and re-sketching. Then he often creates a painting in an 8" x 10" form. If the idea needs corrections or reworking, Tracy will go back and start the process from the beginning again. As a perfectionist, he allows himself very little room for mistakes. "No one could ever criticize my work as severely as I do."
A multiple show winning artist and a continuous People's Choice Award winner across the U.S.. Tracy had added 14 solo museum/art center shows and 4 multiple artist shows to his resume in the first five years of his art career. He has continued to add awards and shows to the list, including several Artist's Choice Awards. He has also been fortunate enough to have his work accepted into several International Competitions, as well as personal invitations to attend art shows in Spain, Greece, New York and the Virgin Islands.
"I don't paint for money or awards or any recognition. I paint because it's who I am. To me it's an addiction. Creating is what keeps me alive." That has been Tracy's attitude toward art since he started painting as a young child.
"I work with so many different subjects because I find it a challenge to paint something I've never painted before. I think it keeps my work fresh and alive. Of course, the more intricate the detail, the better I like the subject. That's why I like painting anything mechanical. There's no room for guessing or being close. You're either exact or it's wrong."
