Paul R. Jones

Paul R. Jones got into aviation art after a full career as an officer in the US Army. He has been a member of the Air Force Art Program since 1980. During that time, he has enjoyed three backseat rides in the F-16, the last one with the 466th USAF Reserve Squadron at Hill AFB in Utah. "The F-16 is my favorite airplane to paint," Jones says. "It has almost a human quality. It’s one of those airplanes that looks like it wants to fly when it is sitting on the ground." Sunset Falcon depicts an F-16 from the 89th Squadron, formerly of Wright-Patterson’s 906th Fighter Group (USAF Reserve) in Ohio. The original is on display in the Pentagon.
