Mike Machats work highlights displays in the National Air & Space Museum, museums at NASAs Kennedy and Dryden facilities, National Soaring Museum, San Diego Aerospace Museum, and the Pentagon. He was the first president of the American Society of Aviation Artists. This painting shows a two-seat F-16B and an AT-6D. The F-16, the workhorse of the USAF Test Pilot School, is painted in the classic red-orange and gloss white color scheme used for test aircraft since the introduction of the century series fighters in the mid-1950s. The AT-6D, the first dedicated school aircraft, was flown as the primary data acquisition and performance evaluation plane at Wright Field. Fifty Years at a Glance was presented to the USAF Test Pilot School during 50th anniversary ceremonies in September 1994 and now hangs at the school at Edwards AFB, California.
