David Poole

David Poole has been producing aviation art full-time for thirteen years. His work has appeared, among other places, in Aviation Magazine and in a video featuring the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum produced by the Discovery Channel. His work has also been published by Aerodrome Press of Tacoma, Washington. "The F-16 is one of my favorite jets to paint," Poole says. "I haven’t done that many, though. World War II-era aircraft take up most of my time. But every now and then I jump at a chance to paint one." Swamp Foxes depicts two F-16As from South Carolina’s 169th Fighter Group attacking Iraqi tanks on the twentieth day of Operation Desert Storm. The original, commissioned by the National Guard heritage collection, hangs at ANG headquarters at Andrews AFB. Snakebit depicts a fictitious encounter between a MiG-29 and an F-16 from Ramstein Air Base, Germany.
