John Sell painted landscapes and seascapes as a general artist for twenty years before discovering aviation art. Like many of the artists featured in this collection, Sell has a pilots license and builds model airplanes. His work has been displayed at the Pentagon. Sell, who lives in New Jersey, produced this painting to commemorate the forty-fifth anniversary of the 174th Fighter Wing at nearby Syracuse, New York. The painting also recognizes the units transition from F-16A to the F-16C.
