"The royal Australian Air Force ordered the F-111 in 1963 before the first aircraft was even built. If you think about it, we ordered this aircraft just eighteen years after the end of World War II. We thought the F-111 would go through the 1960s and well into the 1970s. |

F-16 Unit Salutes Tuskegee Airmen

Gray went red last fall on the tail of one F-16 at the 187th wing, the Alabama Air National Guard unit at Dannelly Field in Montgomery. Aviation buffs will recognize the paint scheme as reminiscent of the aircraft flown by the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II. The splash of color was added to an F-16 of the newly renamed 100th fighter squadron.

Every day when I wake up, I know exactly how many days are left before we go into theater. Standing up a new system is a challenge, but facing a near-term deployment is a huge weight. We are going to be on the world stage. We have to be at our best.
