New G-Suit Tested At Edwards

G-suits, unlike aircraft, haven’t changed much in three decades. That could change with a revolutionary outfit that was tested by USAF Test Pilot School students and instructors. The gear, called Libelle, is a twelve-year project of German inventor Andres Reinhard. Unlike current g-suits that use pressurized air, Libelle uses liquid to protect pilots during rapid turns or changes in flight path, such as combat maneuvers. The suit was chosen by Popular Science as one the top 100 technology developments for 2000.
