Lethal Hit

Col. Chris Seat, behind the controls of Raptor 4005, fires an AIM-120 air-to-air missile and destroys a subscale drone over a test range at NAS Point Mugu, California, in January. This missile test demonstrated the Raptor’s look-down, shoot-down capability that allows the fighter to locate, track, and destroy a target pulling away. Seat is the director of the F-22 Raptor Combined Test Force at Edwards AFB, California. The F-22 CTF at Edwards is testing six F-22s. Since the start of testing nearly four years ago, the F-22 test program has flown more than 1,900 hours in more than 800 flight test sorties.
