Lt. Col. Bob Verkroost, the commander of 311 Squadron at Volkel AB in the Netherlands, became the first Dutch F-16 pilot to reach 3,000 hours in the Fighting Falcon in January. Verkroost's first F-16 flight took place at Leeuwarden AB in 1985. He has held various operational functions at all the Dutch F-16 bases over the years. The last 1,000 hours took him eleven years to accrue.
