Lt. Col. John Montgomery, commander of the 55th Fighter Squadron, and Capt. Jim Govin, pilot with 55th FS, flew two newly modified F-16s from Shaw AFB, South Carolina, to Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, to give feedback on the Common Configuration Implementation Program, or CCIP, upgrade to members of the F-16 Systems Group. The pilots briefed officials on integrating the modifications into the flying unit and answered questions about the performance of the upgraded jets. CCIP is the largest F-16 modification effort ever undertaken. The 55th FS is the first continental US squadron to receive the CCIP aircraft.
