Five deployed US Air Force airmen who trained and assisted the first Iraqi Air Force C-130E aircrew were named the recipients of the MacKay Trophy for the most meritorious Air Force flight of the year. The airmen included Maj. Michael Frame, aircraft commander; Maj. Brian Lewis, instructor pilot; MSgt. Thomas Lee, instructor flight engineer; SMSgt. John Spillane, instructor loadmaster; and MSgt. Corey Turner, instructor loadmaster. The crew was recognized for the first operational combat mission flown by an all-Iraqi aircrew in February 2005. The mission marked the first time a US Air Force advisory support team provided initial qualification training while in a combat zone. The crew members were deployed from Pope AFB, North Carolina; Ramstein AB, Germany; Little Rock AFB, Arkansas; and Dyess AFB, Texas.
