Tyndall Maintenance Trainer

Tyndall Maintenance Trainer Raptor 02 (91-4002), considered the workhorse of the F-22 test fleet, was retired on 19 April after being flown to Tyndall AFB, Florida, to be used as a ground instructional trainer. The airframe takes the place of an operational F-22 previously used for maintenance training. Maintenance students will now use Raptor 02 for basic and advanced maintenance, eliminating significant downtime for any operational aircraft. Raptor 02 will be used to train powering the auxiliary power unit, maintaining the intake and exhaust systems, loading weapons, and performing emergency egress. Raptor 02 was at the end of its service life as a test aircraft, retiring with 671 sorties and more than 1,200 flight hours.
