A Vermont Air National Guard F-16 became the first Fighting Falcon to exceed 7,000 hours of flying operations during a sortie on 24 March. The aircraft, Air Force serial number 83-1165, made the milestone flight with pilot Lt. Col. Thomas Jackman. During its twenty-five year career, the aircraft, known as Lethal Lady, was flown on missions in Iraq and in Southwest Asia. In total, it has recorded more than 1,100 hours of combat flight time. The aircraft is due for retirement in 2009 and will likely be displayed either outside the entrance to the Air National Guard Base in South Burlington or at the entrance to the state National Guard headquarters at Camp Johnson in Colchester.
