Built In Record Time
The tenth F-22 mid-fuselage was built in record time at LM Aero – Fort Worth, resulting in four percent fewer assembly hours than the previous mid-section, as well as a four percent reduction in span time, or the number of manufacturing days required to build the mid-section. When measured against the sixth mid-fuselage, built for the first full-up avionics aircraft, the tenth unit required twenty-six percent fewer assembly hours and was assembled with a twenty-eight percent reduction in span time. |
