Lockheed Martin StarAnnouncing Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company

Lockheed Martin Corporation streamlined its aeronautical businesses in January into Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. The new organization is led by Dain M. Hancock, who will also remain a Lockheed Martin Corporate Executive Vice President. Lockheed Martin sites at Palmdale, California, and Marietta, Georgia, now report administratively to Fort Worth. Palmdale will continue with advanced development initiatives while Fort Worth and Marietta will continue with aircraft production and assembling. Four subassembly plants were also absorbed into the new company: Clarksburg, West Virginia; Johnstown, Pennsylvania; Meridian, Mississippi; and Pinellas, Florida.

The consolidation is expected to reduce general and administrative costs, facilitate decision-making processes, and focus resources on program execution. The Space Systems business area was also consolidated into one company, Space Systems Company in Denver, Colorado.
