Col. James Seat assumed duties as director of F-22 Combined Test Force at Edwards AFB, California, and chief of F-22 Test and Evaluation Division, F-22 System Program Office at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. He is responsible for planning, programming, and directing all F-22 developmental test and evaluation activities to include the 750-person F-22 test team at the Air Force Flight Test Center. The men and women of F-22 CTF are extremely dedicated and expert in the flight test business, said Seat. I am honored to work with such professionals.
Seat is one of twelve test pilots currently flight testing the F-22. The performance of the F-22 is absolutely eye-watering, he said. The aircraft was clearly designed to go fast and to do that for long periods of time. It feels right at home above the Mach. However, the Raptor is just as at home at slower speeds and at higher angles of attack. Ive never flown an aircraft as stable, controllable, and well-behaved at these angles of attack. Seat is a command pilot with approximately 3,400 flying hours in over thirty aircraft types, among them the T-38, F-106, F-16, and F-117.
