Raptor Engine Completes Tests

The powerplant for the F-22 Raptor completed testing required for the Initial Service Release Accelerated Mission Test at the USAF Arnold Engineering Development Center at Arnold AFB in Tennessee. While at AEDC, the engine achieved 4,330 total accumulated cycles and underwent more than 1,000 engine-operating hours in the center’s altitude test cell and sea level test facility. The tests were conducted to provide information on how the engine would perform after flying the 4,330 cycles. “The effort put forth by the test team during this last push toward the ISR milestone is exemplary,” said Jeff Albro, AEDC F119 program manager. “Their efforts will help the sponsor draw to a quicker close to the Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase of the F-22 program.”
