F-16s from many units have participated in combat operations over Afghanistan since October as part of the coalition forces. Approximately 120 strike aircraft were used against Taliban and al Qaeda forces in late November. Of those aircraft, approximately 100 were tactical jets from sea-based platforms, fourteen were land-based tactical jets, and another six were long-range bombers. The missions are part of Operation Enduring Freedom.Back to Events Index
