The Thunderbolts of the 389th FS at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, have recently distinguished themselves by accumulating over 65,000 accident-free hours of flight in the F-16. The 389th, which currently flies the Block 52 version of the F-16, became the first operational squadron to employ the JDAM and WCMD munitions at Combat Hammer in 2001. As a direct result of efforts of the 389th, both munitions have been approved for operational use by the F-16 Block 50 aircraft Air Force-wide.Back to Events Index
