The first four HC-130J Super Hercules airlifters were formally delivered to the Coast Guard in ceremonies at CGAS Elizabeth City, North Carolina, on 31 October. The ceremonies also marked the establishment of the Coast Guard's HC-130J project office, which will conduct initial aircrew and maintenance training and develop a support and operations concept for the aircraft. The HC-130Js will first be operated in a logistics support role, allowing the Coast Guard's fully missionized HC-130H fleet to be better utilized. The Coast Guard plans to fully missionize the HC-130J, which will likely be stationed at CGAS Kodiak, Alaska, when operational.
