EC-130J First Flight

EC-130J First Flight The first fully modified EC-130J was flown for the first time on 4 November. This first of three Commando Solo aircraft is on contract for modification at the Lockheed Martin facility in Palmdale, California. A donor EC-130E aircraft was flown into Palmdale, and the television and radio broadcast equipment was removed, updated, and reinstalled in the new EC-130J aircraft. Three EC-130Js will be modified and tested through 2004. The aircraft will then be delivered to the 193rd Special Operations Wing, the Pennsylvania ANG unit at Harrisburg, which will operate the aircraft.
