Production Avionics Lab Opens

A production avionics laboratory, which will be used to assemble the Raptor's common integrated processors, was opened in late October at the Lockheed Martin plant in Marietta, Georgia. The CIP will now be integrated into a single assembly in the lab rather than being assembled on the aircraft. The new process enables system functional checkout before the CIPs are installed on the aircraft and is expected to reduce the Raptor's manufacturing cycle time by eighteen days.
