Formation Takeoff

Sixteen C-130 crews at Little Rock AFB, Arkansas, conducted a mass takeoff as the kickoff to a heavy equipment drop competition on 23 October. Nine crews took off together, followed by seven more. All sixteen C-130 crews joined up about thirty miles from the base, where they were joined by A-10 and F-15 pilots from the Louisiana ANG. The group then headed to Arrowhead drop zone for the graded heavy-equipment drops. While the formation was en route to the drop zone, F/A-18 Hornet pilots simulated enemy attacks.
