A C-130J from the 175th Wing at Warfield ANGB, Maryland, was rolled into the Benefield Anechoic Facility at Edwards AFB, California, on 12 September to begin testing a new defensive system. The defensive suite includes a radar warning receiver, a countermeasures dispensing system, and a missile warning system, which are all integrated into the aircraft's mission computer. The radar warning receiver and the countermeasures dispensing system were tested in the anechoic chamber, while the missile warning system and the entire suite were later assessed during open-air testing at the Naval Weapons Center at China Lake, California. Baseline software checks were first conducted on the system at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.
