J In The Fight

J In The Fight The first US Air Force C-130J Super Hercules was deployed for the first time in December. The first units to deploy were the 143rd Airlift Squadron, the Air National Guard unit at Quonset State Airport, Providence, Rhode Island, and the 135th AS, another ANG unit based at Martin State Airport, Baltimore, Maryland. The 815th AS, an Air Force Reserve Command unit at Keesler AFB, Mississippi, and the 115th AS based at, Channel Islands ANG Station, California, later deployed aircraft, maintainers, operators, and support personnel as well. As of late December, the C-130J was achieving mission capable rates in excess of ninety-six percent.
