First Multi-Year Super Hercules Delivered
|
|
Lockheed Martin delivered the first KC-130J Super Hercules aircraft ordered under a joint United States Air Force/US Marine Corps multi-year acquisition program in November. The Marine Corps KC-130J was formally accepted by Lt. Gen. Michael A. Hough, Deputy Commandant for Marine Aviation. The aircraft was later delivered to Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 252 (VMGR 252) at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina. In 2002, Lockheed Martin received a $4.3 billion contract for a multiyear program to buy forty C-130J airlifters for the Air Force and twenty KC-130J tankers for the Marine Corps to be delivered between 2004 and 2009. The Marines have a requirement for fifty-one KC 130Js.
