Korea Aerospace Industries began final assembly of the first production T-50 Golden Eagle supersonic trainer on 17 December at the company's facility at Sacheon, South Korea. The first aircraft is scheduled for delivery at the end of December 2005. The first step in final assembly is mating the three fuselage sections using a computer-controlled laser alignment tool. After fuselage mate is complete, the landing gear, wings, vertical, and horizontal tails are installed, followed by components such as avionics, pumps, and the engine. The second aircraft entered final assembly in January. Lockheed Martin is the principal subcontractor to KAI on the T-50 program.
