The twenty-second and final C-130J Super Hercules airlifter for Italy was delivered in ceremonies at the Lockheed Martin facility in Marietta, Georgia, in February. Since the first delivery in 2000, the Aeronautica Militare Italiana (Italian Air Force) has quickly made its C-130J fleet an integral part of its operations. Crews are flying close to 10,000 hours a year and several thousand flight hours have come in operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. The C-130Js were delivered to the 46th Brigata Aerea (Air Brigade) at Pisa AB. There, 50 Gruppo (Squadron) flies ten long-fuselage C-130Js and 2 Gruppo operates twelve short-body aircraft, six of which are configured as aerial tankers.
