Back From The Desert

Back From The Desert A group of Air National Guard C-130Js completed a twenty-month deployment to southwest Asia earlier this year where they demonstrated the ability to maintain a high operational tempo under demanding desert conditions. During the deployment, four C-130Js were used to conduct 5,444 sorties totaling more than 10,750 flight hours. The crews delivered more than 12,500 tons of cargo and carried 70,350 passengers. The deployment to the theater involved aircraft from the 143rd Airlift Wing at Quonset Point, Rhode Island; the 135th Airlift Group at Martin State Airport near Baltimore, Maryland; and the 146th Airlift Wing at Channel Islands ANGS, California. The worldwide fleet of C-130Js has now accumulated more than 340,000 flight hours.
