Patrol Wing 11 In Action

Patrol Wing 11 In Action Two P-3 squadrons from Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing 11 at NAS Jacksonville, Florida, recently completed extended deployments. Crews from Patrol Squadron 45 (VP-45) flew more than 3,700 operational flight hours supporting both the 5th (Southwest Asia) and 7th (Pacific) Fleets. VP-45 participated in thirty named Central Command operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. A detachment at Ali AB, Iraq, conducted 118 missions, providing intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance support. Crews from VP-16 flew more than 3,500 flight hours to support Operation Active Endeavor in the Mediterranean and Deliberate Forge in the Balkans. Crews also flew nearly 1,000 hours of counterdrug operations in the Caribbean helping to intercept more than forty-five metric tons of cocaine.
