Sigonella Scene

Sigonella Scene Aviation ordnance personnel assigned to the Mad Foxes of Patrol Squadron 5 (VP-5) unload and stow sonobuoys from a P-3C Orion aircraft at NAS Signonella, Sicily. VP-5, homeported at NAS Jacksonville, Florida, is currently forward deployed in support of maritime patrol operations in the 7th Fleet area of operations. Millions of sonobuoys have been released by crews since the P-3A first entered US Navy service in 1962. Sharing the ramp is a KC-130J Super Hercules tanker from Marine Aerial Transport Refueler Squadron 352 (VMGR-352) at MCAS Miramar, California, which can be seen in the background.
