More than fifty years of aviation history came to life in skies over Randolph in March when vintage World War II aircraft flew side by side with military jets of today.
The activity was part of Air Combat Commands annual Heritage Flight program conference and training. The Heritage Flight program features historic aircraft, such as the P-47 and P-51, flying with todays A-10, F-15, and F-16 demonstration jets at air shows across the country. The program began in 1997 during the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Air Force. The exhibition of old and new fighters provides a living history lesson and supports USAF recruitment efforts. |
