Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company received the coveted Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufacturing at the aircraft design and production facility in Fort Worth. The award, which was given in May in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, notes Lockheed Martins achievements in lean manufacturing principles with the F-16, the F-22, and the Japan F-2 aircraft. It also recognizes the companys successful partnering with customers and suppliers, innovative product development and manufacturing technologies, effective deployment of a strategic business plan, and promotion of constructive employee behaviors.
This recognition culminates the many years of diligent effort by the employees of our Fort Worth unit, said Dain Hancock, president of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company. These people have con-sistently pursued continuous improvement and customer satisfaction in every aspect of our operations.
The award is administered by the College of Business of Utah State University in partnership with the National Association of Manufacturers. It is considered the premiere manufacturing award and recognition program in North America with only a few companies in the United States, Canada, and Mexico receiving the prize each year. The award is named after Shigeo Shingo of Japan, an internationally acclaimed industrialist. |
