Eleventh F-22 Mid-Fuselage Delivered

The eleventh F-22 mid-fuselage left Fort Worth in April for final assembly in Marietta, Georgia, just like the previous mid-fuselages, ahead of schedule. The eleventh is the last major component to be built at Fort Worth for the Engineering Manufacturing Development phase of the F-22 program and the first to be delivered in 2000.

It becomes the ninth flying F-22 and the sixth full-up avionics aircraft when it joins the Combined Test Force at Edwards AFB, California. No. 11 required thirty-four percent fewer hours to assemble and twenty-nine percent less span time compared to the sixth mid-fuselage (the midsection of the first full-up avionics F-22, which forms a baseline for comparison). The mid-fuselage is the largest and most complex structural component of the F-22.
