S-3Bs of VS-35 got quite a bit of national exposure on 1 May. In addition to one of the squadrons aircraft serving as the first-ever Navy One (see inside front cover), a second aircraft, suitably cleaned and shined, served as the backdrop for ABC-TVs nationwide broadcast of the wedding of Lt. David Kozminski and his fiancée, Jeannie Rhoads, on Good Morning America. As the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) steamed toward San Diego, Good Morning America viewers met Kozminski, a Blue Wolves pilot, during a live interview aboard ship where he spoke to Rhoads, who was awaiting his return. Their original wedding date was 5 April, but because of the war with Iraq, the Lincoln stayed at sea, becoming the longest-deployed US Navy ship in thirty years. |
