3,500 Hours And Counting

The F/A-22 fleet passed 3,500 total flight test hours on 4 June. Maj. Colin Miller flew the milestone test mission at the Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards AFB, California, which included the launch of an AIM-120 AMRAAM missile and a test of the avionics system. The F/A-22 Combined Test Force at Edwards consists of approximately 1,000 members from Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Pratt & Whitney, the Air Force, and the US government. Ten Raptors are assigned to Edwards, with Raptors 02 through 07 being used to complete development testing, while Raptors 08 through 11 will be used for initial operational testing this fall. Three additional aircraft, Raptors 12 through 14, are at Nellis AFB, Nevada, for tactics development.
