Navy And Air Force Team Sink Iraqi Patrol Boat

US Navy and Air Force crews teamed to conduct a successful nautical strike on 21 March, as a fast-attack Iraqi patrol boat in the Arabian Gulf was targeted and sunk. A P-3C Orion crew from VP-46 located and tracked the patrol boat and then relayed the information to an Air Force AC-130 gunship crew from the 4th Special Operations Squadron Deployed, which targeted the boat and sank it with its side-firing guns. This action came as Special Operations Forces were securing oil platforms off the southern Iraqi Al Faw Peninsula, approximately 295 miles southeast of Baghdad.
