Marine Corps Desert Successes

Marine Corps Desert Successes Marines of Marine Aerial Transport Refueler Squadron 252 have been hard at work supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom by providing aerial refueling, troop and cargo transport, and radio relay capabilities since arriving in theater in February. In July, VMGR-252 crews reached a milestone of ten million pounds of fuel (about 1.6 million gallons). In the early morning hours of 16 April, a single KC-130J crew airdropped needed supplies to Forward Operating Base Korean Village, a remote outpost in the Iraqi desert. This drop is the first Marine combat aerial delivery for the KC-130J. VMGR-252 is based at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina.
