RAAF Airdrop

RAAF Airdrop The Royal Australian Air Force conducted its first C-130J airdrop re-supply mission earlier this year in Afghanistan to validate the Assured Re-supply mission concept developed by the RAAF. The concept for Assured Re-supply was developed by 86 Wing staff in response to the challenges created by operating in a broad range of environments. The mission is achieved through the use of container delivery system, or CDS, bundles. The stores are secured in a canvas container with a parachute that is rolled out of the aircraft. CDS is the most commonly used method for aerial insertion of supplies for military operations.
