Lt. Col. Robert L. Riedenauer, USAF (ret.), the only test pilot to have flown the FB-111, U-2 Dragon Lady, SR-71 "Blackbird," and the F-117 Nighthawk, passed away 23 April. He was seventy. In the Air Force, Riedenauer conducted test flights in the FB-111A, U-2, and SR-71. After joining Lockheed Skunk Works, Palmdale, California, he served as an engineering test pilot and later as director of operations. He helped design and develop aircraft on several classified programs and served as one of the company's principal test pilots on the F-117. A combat veteran and a Fellow in the Society of Experimental Test pilots, he logged more than 6,500 hours in more than fifty different aircraft types during his career. He retired from Lockheed in 1993.
