Screaming Eagles Fly Home

Screaming Eagles Fly Home Patrol Squadron 1 (VP-1), known as the Screaming Eagles, returned home to NAS Whidbey Island, Washington, on 9 June, after a six-month deployment to the Eastern Pacific. While deployed, VP-1 supported the commander of the US 7th Fleet. The unit flew more than 2,500 flight hours as part of Operation Enduring Freedom and the Global War on Terror. VP-1 will be the last Whidbey squadron to be integrated into the new Patrol Wing 10 Consolidated Maintenance Organization. VP-1 will transfer accountability for its aircraft and maintainers to the organization in an effort to produce more capable aircraft and maintenance crews using the most efficient and cost-effective methods.
